Stokesley Show: A North Yorkshire Agricultural Tradition Since 1859

Jun 5, 2026 | News, Show News

Stokesley Show has a proud agricultural heritage stretching back over 165 years, making it one of North Yorkshire’s longest-running annual shows.

It all began on 12th March 1859, when a meeting at the Golden Lion Inn (now The Leven Hotel) resolved that “it would be greatly beneficial to this District to establish an Agricultural Society, with an Annual Show, at Stokesley.” — and the Stokesley Agricultural Society was born.

The Show has run continuously ever since, pausing only during the First and Second World Wars (1914–1919 and 1939–1945) and Covid ( 2020/2021)

Do you have stories to share or memorabilia from earlier shows? We’d love to hear from you.
