A message from the Stokesley Show President 2022

A message from our incoming 2022 President, the Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Mrs Johanna Ropner.

I am truly honoured to have been asked to be the President of the 163rd Stokesley Show in this Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Year.

Agricultural Shows have always been an internal part of our rural communities, bringing us together, united in our shared interest in the care and suitability of our glorious countryside.

This year, more than ever, after two fallow and challenging years, it makes the show even more relevant bringing all threads of our lives together to be celebrated in such a wholesome and joyful event.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the dedicated team who help us run the Stokesley Show and ensure the Agricultural Society is up-to-date and relevant in these fast-changing times. Through both show and showground, many local charities are supported, bursaries for local students studying agriculture are provided, and of course, we will welcome the scouts again to help out on the day in exchange for much-needed funding.

I know that many will have been preparing for this day all year, and I very much look forward to seeing as many classes and competitors, in all sections, as is physically possible. Huge thanks should go to both judges and exhibitors, stewards and members, some of whom travelled far and wide to be here today. Thank you also to the large team of volunteers who will be on-site, helping make the show run smoothly.

Wil so many shows still not back to full strength, we should once more applaud the Stokesley Show Council for all the hard work behind the scenes culminating today in a wonderful array of events, displays, stalls and exhibits.

Thank you once again for inviting me to join you this year. I know it will be a spectacular day!
